On June 13, 2025, Muzeul Gazelor Naturale of Mediaș (The Gas Museum of Mediaș) marked fifteen years of activity with a celebration worthy of its cultural and educational role, reaffirming its commitment to the technological heritage, the values of science and involvement in community life.
On the occasion of the anniversary, the Museum has organized an Open Day event, that started at 09:00 hours, and included a series of festive and educative activities, held in the presence of the general public and representatives of the local community.
Inaugurated in 2010, with the occasion of the 100-year anniversary of the first commercial gas well drilled in Romania, the Gas Museum pays homage to the gas industry history. Over time, the Museum has been actively involved in organizing events with impact on education, culture, and environment, contributing to strengthening its prestige among the local community and beyond.
This date of June 13 has a special meaning for the community of Mediaș, but also for the Romanian society, for it is the day when Centrul de Documentare și Informare Gaze Naturale ROMGAZ Mediaș (ROMGAZ Document Analysis and Informing Center of Mediaș) was opened to the public for the very first time. Today, the Center is known as the Gas Museum, a cultural institution preserving and exhibiting the historical and artistic heritage of the community.

I would like to personally thank everyone who visited the museum, the collaborators and partners who supported the initiative even from the beginning.”, is the message sent by Mr. Dumitru Chisăliță, ROMGAZ BoD Chairman, with the occasion of this anniversary.

The program of the event included workshops for children, debates on the responsible use of natural gas, guided tours of the permanent exhibition and the museum garden, with emphasis on the local biodiversity. Moreover, the projects carried out by the institutions in the field of education, culture, environmental protection, and social responsibility have been presented.
The event concluded with an anniversary exhibition and screening of a documentary film dedicated to Eng. C.I. MOTAȘ, regarded as the founder of the gas industry in Romania.
