ROMGAZ – 6 years of investments in future professionals’ education and training
ROMGAZ, the largest producer, main supplier of natural gas, and largest operator of underground natural gas storage facilities in Romania is involved in technical and vocational education through dual education programs, private scholarships, and internship initiatives dedicated to pupils and students.
Partnerships with educational institutions for dual education
ROMGAZ collaborates with the National Gas School College in Mediaș and the Iernut Technological High School to provide vocational training for students through dual education.
Over 80 students were trained within this program as of 2018 in fields like:
Natural Gas production, treatment and distribution operator
Electrician for power plants, stations, and electrical networks
Operator of boilers, steam turbines, ancillary and heating facilities
Students accepted to the dual education programs get monthly scholarships of RON 300, work gear and protective gear, and civil liability insurance for the duration of their internship. The practical training takes place at the company's branches in Mediaș, Târgu Mureș, and Iernut. After completing their studies, students can be employed by ROMGAZ in vacant positions that correspond to their qualifications. To date, 25 graduates have been employed by the company, thus strengthening the link between education and the labor market.
Private scholarships for students – ROMGAZ Scholarships
As part of the “ROMGAZ Scholarships” program, 46 undergraduate and graduate students specializing in oil and gas, geology, geophysics, and energy were awarded ROMGAZ scholarships, 26 of them joining our team after graduation.
These scholarships are awarded based on criteria established by competition rules agreed with the educational institutions we collaborate with.
Internship ROMGAZ NextGen – career pathway
In August 2024, ROMGAZ kicked off the first edition of its “ROMGAZ NextGen” internship program, with 13 young people taking part in activities at the company's headquarters and branches in Mediaș, Târgu Mureș, Buzău, Ploiești, and Iernut. The interns benefited from a part-time program and a monthly allowance of RON 2000 gross, being involved in oil and gas, geology, and energy-related activities.
Through these ongoing investments in youth training, ROMGAZ supports a sustainable future for Romania's energy industry and puts education at the heart of its corporate social responsibility.
