ROMGAZ determines Greenpeace to correct and complete their actual identification data in all files where Greenpeace has challenged in court Neptun Deep Project

ROMGAZ, through its ROMGAZ Black Sea Limited Subsidiary, has decided to withdraw, for the time being, the request for dissolution of Greenpeace CEE (Central Eastern Europe) Foundation Romania, which is the subject of file no. 17337/299/2025, pending before the Court of Bucharest District 1, before the first term.

The decision was taken in good faith, taking into account the clarifications and specifications submitted by Greenpeace Foundation in all pending cases regarding its actual identification data.

The reason for ROMGAZ initial legal action was Greenpeace's failure to fulfill its obligation to pay legal costs amounting to RON 150,000, granted to ROMGAZ by Final Judgment no. 667/2025 in file no. 30529/3/2024, following the rejection of Greenpeace's request. The enforcement of that debt was hindered by a deliberate strategy by Greenpeace to create confusion and evade enforcement.

For more than a year, in all six court actions filed by Greenpeace Foundation against Neptun Deep project in contradiction with the project owners and various central and local public authorities, as well as in all subsequent procedural documents (amending requests, meeting notes, written conclusions, etc.), Greenpeace systematically indicated the VAT registration code for intra-Community acquisitions instead of the tax identification code under which it operates. Moreover, Greenpeace failed to indicate in the procedural documents the bank account and the registration number with the Register of Associations and Foundations and continued to indicate an address of an old headquarters even after change in address was registered. Such data, Fiscal Identification Code, headquarters, bank account, registration number must be mentioned in the requests submitted to the court, in accordance with the law. That pattern, followed by three different teams of lawyers, seems to go beyond a simple "material error", indicating rather a strategy aimed at preventing patrimonial liability.

Only on June 02, 2025, after ROMGAZ dissolution request was filed, Greenpeace Foundation submitted clarifying requests in all pending files to rectify and complete its identification data, also claiming that specifying the VAT registration code for intra-community acquisitions instead of the tax identification code was made by way of "material error".

Although delayed, these steps clarify the legal status of Greenpeace Foundation, which thus is forced to assume correct and complete identification data.

We respect the right of any organization to take legal action, but we emphasize that such a right also implies the obligation to act in a transparent manner and under legal and patrimonial liability.

As ROMGAZ approach has forced Greenpeace to correct and complete its actual identification data in all files, ROMGAZ waives, for the time being, the action filed against Greenpeace. ROMGAZ will continue to correctly assess the transparency and legal and patrimonial liability of that foundation, including in consideration of the new identification data communicated to the courts. If necessary, ROMGAZ will not hesitate to file a new action against Greenpeace.

ROMGAZ will continue to firmly defend its strategic projects and reaffirms its commitment to implement the Neptun Deep project, which is an objective of strategic importance for ensuring Romania's energy independence and security.
