ROMGAZ School - Field Trip On-Track Getic 2025: Young professionals discover the Getic Depression and exploration opportunities

The project “ROMGAZ School” continues in 2025, reaching the second edition of the professional training program dedicated to company's young professionals. The initiative gathers early career employees eager to strengthen their technical knowledge and experts with extensive experience in natural gas exploration and production, in a collaborative setting based on mentoring, applied learning, and experience sharing.

Through this program, ROMGAZ reaffirms its commitment to the continuous development of professional skills and to consolidate its strategic partnership with the academic environment, building bridges between theory and practice, between research and industrial applicability.

2025 Edition: The Getic Depression – between theory and practice

The second edition of the project took place between October 13 - 16, 2025, focusing on the geological evolution of the Getic Depression and its correlation with exploration opportunities in block RG08.

The field trip was coordinated by colleagues Cosmin Ghiță (geophysicist, Exploration and Appraisal Office), Antonia Hrimiuc (geophysicist, Resource and Reserve Appraisal Office), and Adrian Mihăilă (geological engineer, Resource and Reserve Appraisal Office), together with Assistant Professor PhD Eng. Ioan Munteanu, Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Geology and Geophysics – University of Bucharest.

The young professionals who participated in the field trip had the opportunity to use their theoretical knowledge on the field and to deepen their knowledge of structural geology, tectonics and sedimentology concepts correlated with the exploration and production activities of the company.

Participants explored the Getic Sub-Carpathians, visited Hurezani-Piscu-Stejari well cluster and discussed with production professionals on the challenges and technical solutions of hydrocarbon production.

Involvement of the academic environment provided a solid scientific dimension to this activity, facilitating the understanding of tectonic and sedimentary processes and of the geological models applicable in exploration.

This exemplary collaboration between ROMGAZ and the academic environment illustrates the importance of the interaction between theoretical knowledge and practical experience in the professional development of geologists, geophysicists and engineers.

Edition 2024: Transylvanian Basin – beginning of “ROMGAZ School” project

The 1st edition of “ROMGAZ School – Field Trip On-Track” project was carried out between October 15 and October 17, 2024 and focused on the study of the Transylvanian Basin.

Statements:

Cosmin Ghiță, Geophysicist at ROMGAZ: "This year's field training is an important benchmark for the professional development of our young coworkers, but also a recognition of the involvement of our senior staff. The collaboration with the academic community, through the expertise of Vice-Dean Ioan Munteanu, has added value to the project. We would like to thank ROMGAZ management for their support and everyone involved in the smooth running of activities."

Antonia Hrimiuc, Geophysicist at ROMGAZ: "We explored a geologically complex area with significant hydrocarbon potential. The field activities provided an excellent framework for practical learning, exchanging ideas, and strengthening team spirit. We would like to thank Professor Ioan Munteanu and Eng. Vasile Paraschivu for their explanations and support."

Adrian Mihăilă, Geologist at ROMGAZ: "We are delighted that ROMGAZ is investing in the training of its specialists. The field trip gave us the opportunity to better understand the Getic Depression and make connections with other areas of interest to the company. We hope that this type of activity will become a tradition."

Partnership for the future of energy

Through ROMGAZ School project, the company reinforces its role as a promoter of technical education, mentoring, and transfer of knowledge between generations, while also encouraging sustainable collaboration with the academic community. Research, training, and professional practice are the underlying principles at the foundation of ROMGAZ future natural gas exploration and production in Romania.

Congratulations to everyone involved for their effort, dedication, and expertise!
