Technical aspects
The activity developed by CTE – Iernut ensures the electric power production by transforming thermal energy (burning CH4) in mechanical energy (turbine) and in electric energy (generator). It is a condensation electric power plant with intermediate superheating, equipped with six functional block system groups: steam boiler – turbine – generator – electric transformer, by means of which the independent performance of the energetic groups is ensured.
The groups were put into operation between 1963 –1967.
Main parameters of 100MW groups no. 1, 2, 3, 4 are:
Working steam temperature on steam boiler output: 550 0C;
Working steam pressure on steam boiler output: 138 bar;
Working steam flow: 330 tons/h;
Methane gas consumption on nominal load: 28,500 Nm3/h;
Basic optimum specific conventional fuel for electric energy production: 322.5 gcc/kWh;
Electric energy specific consumption for electric energy production: 6.2%.
Main parameters of 200MW groups no. 5 and 6 are:
Working steam temperature on steam boiler output: 550 0C;
Working steam pressure on steam boiler output: 138 bar;
Working steam flow: 640 tons/h;
Methane gas consumption on nominal load: 47,000 Nm3/h;
Basic optimum specific conventional fuel for electric energy production: 306 gcc/kWh;
Electric energy specific consumption for electric energy production: 5.8 %.
The natural gas field located near the Power Plant, ensure the power plant supply with natural gas through SRM Cuci. The cooling water necessary for the groups operation is taken from Mures River, which is why the dam on Mures River, belonging to the power plant, was built together with the afferent pump station. The demineralized water necessary for the steam boilers’ operation is produced at the power plant chemical station and the hydrogen necessary for the generators’ cooling is produced in its own hydrogen factory.
Every 100 MW group is composed by a steam boiler which functions in turbine block system and every 200 MW group is composed by a two blocks steam boiler.
The electric energy produced by the 100MW generators, respectively by the 200MW generators, is injected in the energetic system by means of a 125 MVA power and respectively a 250 MVA power block transformer. Part of the electric energy produced by the terminal of the generators is taken by a 13,8/6 KV step-down transformer, for the 100MW groups, respectively by a 15,75/6 KV step-down transformer for the 200 MW groups and it is used for the internal services supply.
The connection to the National Energetic System is made through three 110, 220 and 400 KV electric stations. All groups from CTE – Iernut are qualified by the National Energetic Dispatcher, as suppliers of technological system services: primary adjustment, secondary adjustment and slow tertiary adjustment.
